What is it?

What does it do?
This
is the application that comes up in windowsk 2k/xp/2k3 when you hit
Ctrl+Alt+Del together. This is used for ending applications and
processes that are either no longer responding.
The other thing that this is good for is probably what brought you to this site 
Basically you can get a list of ALL processes running and if you were
doing a search for taskmgr.exe then you already know what this screen
looks like so I won't bother posting an image of it.

Virus Precaution:
The original file from Microsoft gets placed in the C:WINDOWSSystem32 directory. if you find it anywhere else then you should be suspicious for sure.
You'll want to keep an eye on this google search for any known viruses. Currently there've been 0 reports. Everything in that search isn't related to this particular file.

| travis rietman | Hi i have recently been having problems with taskmgr and mcAfee. the program says it needs out bound access and mcafee wont let you click "grant outbound access" Instead when you click it, another window pops up. I recently installed a free program that claimed that it does all the work of such programs as 'SIW' (System information) and 'hidden utilities' (shows a list of every program on the computer) while being better than default task manager. Well its better than 'SIW' and i never got a chance to use the utilities, it was incapable of ending any tasks. All thats good, uninstalled it. But now i now do not appear to be able to access Task manager. I went into 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr'." but it cannot find the file. It tels me to search for it but that doesn't work. and advice?
